EXCEPTIONAL PUBLIC GOLF JUST SOUTH OF DOVER, DE

Explore the Links at Jonathan's Landing Golf Club

The COurse

Jonathan’s Landing Golf Club is one of Delaware’s most frequently played public golf courses, with a distinctive marshland, links-style layout, undulating greens, subtle elevation changes, and windswept views. Challenging for more experienced golfers yet still forgiving enough for intermediate golfers to enjoy, Jonathan’s Landing will quickly become a course you want to play again and again.

The front nine offers many water hazards and a slightly longer layout, playing to over 3500 yards from the back tees. When golfers make the turn, the back nine shifts to more undulating green complexes, a few target holes where driver may not be necessary, and strategically placed bunkers. Each hole is unique, with a great mix of par threes and par fours and fives that vary in length and difficulty. If you’ve never played Jonathan’s Landing, make your tee time today and see it for yourself!

Mike Cocino
Golf Course Superintendent

Michael Cocino has brought a wealth of experience to Jonathan’s Landing Golf Club based on his time at a variety of Golf Courses. He began his career at a young age working at Hillsborough Golf and Country Club in Central New Jersey. As he got older and began to receive tasks with higher responsibility, he developed a passion for his work. By the age of 18 he knew he wanted to pursue becoming a golf course Superintendent and took the first step to achieve this goal, choosing Penn State to earn a B.S. in Turfgrass science. The highlight of his education was being a part of the first study abroad program directly related to Turf. He spent a week in the U.K. comparing agronomic practices between the U.S. and U.K. He was able to spend time with greenskeepers at the R&A, Manchester United football club, St. Andrews, Turnberry, and Glen Eagles as well as many others.

He decided to do an internship every summer throughout his 4 years at Penn State. His first summer was spent with Baltusrol. Then looking for something a bit more practical he went to Sand Barrens which is now Union League. Still in search of a practical property he could see himself at, his last internship was at Bidermann Golf Club. While at Bidermann the Superintendent allowed him to volunteer at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club for the Quicken Loans National. He also spent a week with the USGA Green Section conducting site visits shadowing USGA agronomists offering their consulting services. He returned to Bidermann as an assistant superintendent once he graduated in 2014.

Mike then went from an assistant at Bidermann to Seaview, and finally Cripple Creek before making the leap to this Head Superintendent role with Jonathan’s Landing. Being able to pull everything he has learned from multiple Superintendents and other industry professionals, his goal is to make something great even better with Jonathan’s Landing Golf Club.

In his free time he likes to golf, cook, mountain bike, fish and snowboard.

John “Jack” Beiser
In Loving Memory: 1931 – 2021

The team at Jonathan’s Landing Golf Club and Forewinds Hospitality would like to recognize the passing of the owner and designer of Jonathan’s Landing and certainly its biggest fan, Mr. John “Jack” Beiser. After decades of great success in business, Jack turned his vision to another passion, golf. In 1996, Jonathan’s Landing Golf Club – a course Jack designed himself – opened for all the residents of Kent County and the surrounding area to enjoy. His favorite hole – number three – is and forever will be known as “Jack’s Hole.” The clubhouse that once stood at Delaware Bay, completed his vision.

Jack’s story is not one of success just in business. He and his beloved wife Janis were together for sixty-three years before she passed, with Jack providing around-the-clock love and care in those final years. His is also a story of faith and philanthropy. Jack was committed to not only his church, but charitable causes too many to detail here. He impacted innumerable lives with his exceedingly charitable heart and warm spirit.

Certainly, Jack enjoyed watching a recent resurgence at Jonathan’s Landing, and the renovations he was making at his beloved golf course. He was often found with a wide smile while sitting at a table in the Café at Jonathan’s Landing, greeting the familiar faces of golfers and friends, and being warmly received baby all. He will be remembered fondly by family, friends, and all who enjoyed the privilege of knowing him.
